主要研究方向为植物繁殖生物学、分子细胞生物学及进化生物学，侧重于植物有性繁殖中相关组织和器官的发育过程及其功能的研究。特别是花器官形态发生及其分子调控机制、原基细胞的分化、自交不亲和机制以及器官结构和功能的适应性机理等领域。主持和参与科研项目8项，其中主持国家自然科学基金项目2项、国际科学基金项目1项、中国科学院院级项目1项。已在领域前沿SCI索引刊物发表学术论文11篇，参与编写专著1部。2013-2014年获国家留学基金资助，以访问学者身份赴美国南加州大学（University of Southern California）从事访问研究一年。目前担任中国科学院华南植物园植物科学研究中心副研究员，硕士研究生导师；国家自然科学基金、广东省自然科学基金评审专家；PLoS One、Journal of Systematics and Evolution、植物生态学报、热带亚热带植物学报、植物科学学报等专业学术刊物审稿人。
